JOB DETAIL

Purpose:

Must be able to do the following:

  • Work on his own
  • Read 2D drawings
  • Build jigs, fixtures, and press tools from 2d drawings.
  • Build simple jigs, fixtures, and tools without drawings.
  • Understand and analyze metrology reports.
  • Root cause analysis of tool failures.
  • Work accurately and quickly.
  • Repair jigs, fixtures, and all types of metal press tools.
  • Have a very good understanding of Progression Tools.

  • Analytical and Methodical approach to designing Tools, Jigs, and Fixtures.
  • Excellent Communication Skills and Interpersonal Skills.
  • Accuracy of work with attention to detail and neatness.

  • Ability to work accurately under pressure at certain times.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Minimum of a Matric certificate qualification.
  • Experience: 15+ years in tool making, preferably in the automotive sector i.e. progression, draw, cam trim, etc.
  • Have a very good understanding of CNC machining capabilities.
  • Merseta certificate (or similar) in tool, die and jig making with red seal approval
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with Patterns, NC Machining and Die Construction practices.
  • Have a good understanding of automotive quality standards (Q1, VDA6, and IATF 16949).
